La Bartra is located in a very welcoming place with a long history that goes back to the neolithic and Iberian times. In the medieval age a convent was built, and later in the XVIII century the mountain farmers settled over its ruins, remaining there till the 60's. The small village formed by five families, became uninhabited and with time deteriorated... Eighteen years later, a new phase took place when a part of this village was restored and inhabited, practising eco-agriculture.
Nowadays, La Bartra has become a meeting point for old and new friends, to enjoy a wide range of activities, from doing Tai-chi to enjoying the natural scenery with excursions, climbing, baths, ..., and when the occasion arises, sharing lively evenings, philosophy, music, ...From this emerged the need to expand and improve the facilities, and slowly, recycling all that could be of use, with time and lot of effort like the Phoenix bird, from the debris rose today's reality. (see facilities)
.
LA BARTRA-NATURE and TAI-CHI - alternative association, is an entity that gives coherence and continuity to this project, as well as the practical organization of the REFUGE HOUSE in order to give a simple but warm welcome with a vegetarian diet. All this makes possible that La Bartra stays open all year round.
